Children nowadays are so digitally inclined. They can easily learn the how-to’s in navigating a relatively complex gadget down to plugging a desktop charger by just observing. There are even times when children are more knowledgeable about technology and related things than their seniors. And with this, it’s just common to see tech-savvy kids who are active with online interactions in social media.

Since they’re but kids, you can’t expect them to act mature on how they conduct themselves online. Some of them tend to be so aggressive and mean-spirited by making inappropriate comments to others, which others cannot tolerate notwithstanding the age of the perpetrator. As parents, it is our responsibility to lead by example and teach them the right attitude towards social media and technology in general. And here are the four basic digital etiquette rules that they should learn and live by as they grow up:

1.       Teach them the value of respect. Respect begets respect, and this is what they must apply in their daily lives whether in person or in front of their smartphone screens. Just because they can’t see the other party’s reaction to the things that they post online doesn’t mean that they can say whatever they want. Words spoken online or in person have the power to hurt people.

2.       Show them how to be trustworthy. Anything can be said online. Even rumors that are completely baseless can spread and make gullible readers regard that information as gospel truth. You have to teach your kids the significance of keeping a reputable image online. They should not take part in sharing anything that can destroy a person nor instigate the unjustifiable claim. Tell them not to say anything online that they wouldn’t say to someone else’s face.

3.       Educate them to distance themselves from bad things. Engaging to nasty, negative comments can’t get you anywhere; stooping to their level would only make you look as bad as they are. This is what your children must remember. Encourage them to take the high road and do the appropriate measures when dealt with this kind of situation.

4.       Tell them the importance of privacy. The social media can be a transparent window to your every thought. Whatever you say into the open stays. Tell your kids that everything is not meant to be shared. Moreover, confidential information, if accessed by ominous people can pose a security threat to your children and the family as a whole.

It’s absolutely imperative to start netiquette (technology-related etiquette) education to your children as early as possible. Remember, values formation starts in their premature years, and a distorted outlook in life gets harder and harder to straighten up as one gets older.

I’m a fan of many movies and television shows. Ask me anything and I can provide you an accurate answer in a little less than a minute. Okay, maybe I was a little exaggerating because I am not that much of a couch potato. Sure, I know enough about Hollywood movies and television series like Castle, the Big Bang Theory, and Grey’s Anatomy. But for some that I don’t, I simply haven’t given time to go through all them. A man’s got to work, you know! Nevertheless, I still get to browse what’s catching the attention of the crowd, and here’s my observation: they are all about the living dead or at least, some form of it (vampires).  I’m pertaining to the nth number of zombies that the extraordinary Alice of Resident Evil has been battling for five or less instalments now.

Why is that we’re so fond of seeing the dead take over our planet and us putting bullets onto their heads? We place them in games, music, and even put them as cell phone cover designs just for fun. Is it the thrill of killing the bad kind? Or maybe the freedom to be able to put death upon something deserving of it because we are incapable of doing such in today’s government laws? How about we stop showing those possible outcomes and start the tell-tale of how we can prevent it from ever happening? Is that a good idea for you? It sure is for me.

The one and only solution I could think of that could actually stop the world from ever reaching the apocalypse is to throwaway the smartphones or any other form of addicting technology that have almost taken over them. As helpful as they are in all aspects especially convenience, smartphones have rendered us zombie-like already. The fault is with us, not with technology. So why should we throw them away?

Simple. There are only two variables to the equation: people and technology. Since it’s completely against the law to kill people, you kill off the other, and that is technology. Think about it, if the apocalypse ever comes to fruition, can you use the expensive tablet accessories to battle the endless number of zombies fighting over your brains? It’s possible. But there’s only one in a million chances you could survive. You would still be bitten and it’s only death that awaits you, so yeah, still your loss. Ha!

I don’t ever wanna go through that, much less think about it (even when I just did). I’m quite sure you don’t want either... right? Let’s look at it at another angle –invasion of the machines. What sparks the machines to motion? Technology. There you go! It’s not that I’m asking you to give it up completely. No one can. Even I can’t. But it should and must be done.

Now here I am trying to convince you once again how adverse the effects of technology can become when utilized to its limitations. It might be hopeless, it might not. Every accomplishment comes from the decision to try. Who’s to say I won’t get through each mind reading this article and persuade you to give up the addiction right here, right now?

In this digital age, with more and more people having access to the internet, netizens have resorted to blogging in order to express themselves. It’s not something to be surprised about because of its scope and flexibility. Until now, not every state in the planet has exercised its jurisdiction over the World Wide Web and enacted laws to limit it. And since the internet can be accessed by just anyone, you’re quite sure that your self-expressions might make sense into your vast audience.

Be that as it may, blogging has evolved from its mere function of self-expression to a fundamental marketing tool for businesses and a practical opportunity for freelance writers to earn some money. If you’ll take a closer look into the picture, you’ll get to see that blogging is really an effective way to make your business known and to increase revenue. However, not all blogs get to do what they’re supposed to. As a matter of fact, a lot of them fall short because of the mistakes that bloggers fail to acknowledge. To prevent this from happening to your blog, make sure that you avoid these blogging mistakes.

1.       No schedule on posts. Given that what you blog about is interesting, such as providing comprehensive reviews about smartphone accessories or perhaps sharing insightful philosophies that are truly worth to be deciphered, then you’re sure to garner quite a handful of readers and followers. Your audience will be looking ahead to your interesting posts recurrently. So, it’s best if you create a schedule on when you’re going to post something in your blog. It promotes a habit formation on your readers to visit your blog on a regular basis, just like in the case of the morning paper.

2.       A dull “About Me” page. Other bloggers may take this page for granted, not knowing that it’s there for a bigger purpose. Writing a considerable amount of information for yourself practically makes your page more likely to come up in search engines. Also, some readers are particular with the blogger himself. If he manages to showcase himself according to the readers’ liking, more often than not, they will become a follower.

3.       Lacking interaction with your readers. Human nature dictates that we feel more comfortable in the company of friends and those who get to address us personally, and this is no different in the case of blogging. This is the reason why you have to avoid the usage of generic and impersonal words that seem to speak to the public in general. Let’s say, if you’re marketing tablet accessories, make it appear that you yourself are genuinely intrigued with the product, not just for the purpose of letting your prospective buyers know that you have that kind of item. Furthermore, know your target audience, and address them in a personal approach. This will give them an instant sense of connection with you and the blog itself.

4.       Not understanding the essence of the network. That is why it’s called a “network”; points should be organized and interconnected, similar to a spider web. It is essential to build links with other blogs. Just like in real life, the more friends you have, the more connections you’ll garner. The easiest way to do this is through blog commenting. You can leave a link towards your own blog on the comment that you’ll be posting. This will probably take a considerable amount of time, though.

5.       No to plagiarism. Last but definitely not the least, you have to come up with an original content, though this is quite unfeasible unless you yourself are doing a field work to acquire the first-hand information you need to come up with your own article. If you’re going to find some inspiration over the internet, just make sure not to copy what has already been written word per word. Obtain the gist of the article and come up with your own version. It’s imperative that you incorporate your opinion or write your version in a different angle so as not to be culpable of plagiarism.

Now that you have read the common blogging mistakes, this is the best time to get rid of them—if you are still exercising any. Remember, your audience are capable of exhibiting interest or the otherwise to whatever they see. So, it’s best to get their attention with your sensibility and creativity, together with avoiding these common mistakes.

Communication is essential for human survival and progression. Undeniably, no man can live in the solitary confines of his own boundaries. He should convey his thoughts and form relationships with others to carry on as he is considered a social animal. Since language has helped us indubitably to achieve understanding, it has served as a way for civilizations to ensue. As of today, communication is not only limited in personal discourses; it has been given greater array by means of social media.

Truly, the internet has made the world smaller and people closer. You may have attained the benefit of reaching out to others; however, you became less aware that you’ve given less attention to the ones just beside you, and that is your partner. So, is social media really a relationship wrecker? You know what, it doesn’t have to be. To find out how to prevent it from ruining your relationship, seek out the few suggestions listed below.

1.       Notify your partner about your social media activities. Not everyone is an enthusiast of technology. While there are those who are self-confessed techno geeks, there are the ones whom we brand as tech nincompoops. Be that as it may, make sure that your partner has enough knowledge of what social media is all about if he/she isn’t acquainted to it. The less your partner knows about it, the more likely he/she will become apprehensive of it. Whenever you take a session online, inform your partner of the transactions you’ve made, may it be accepting friend requests or establishing business connections. Make your partner realize the importance of social media to one’s life to make it something easy for him/her to swallow.

2.       Never neglect your partner. Life is no doubt multifaceted. There are a lot of aspects that need our attention. And now that social media has grown even more popular, you yourself can’t get enough of it. Unconsciously, you tend to withhold your responsibility to your partner, and that is your constant attention. Never forget to make your partner feel valued. If you want, you can buy him/her the eBook accessory  he/she has always wanted to have. Don’t be too engrossed with what the internet has to offer; make good first of what’s around you before reaching afar.

3.       Take a step back, and reflect. Our addictions are often the things that we can’t admit to ourselves of having. We tend to deny and rationalize that it’s just but normal to be preoccupied with those things. However, in order to see if your preoccupations have turned into addictions, take a step back, and reflect. If what you are doing already takes a toll on your relationship, then it most certainly isn’t of any help for you. After that, I think you already know what to do.

4.       Set some timeouts online. The 24 hours we have daily sometimes isn’t enough to do everything that we need to accomplish. Like it or not, something has to be sacrificed in trying to complete everything in your docket. If there is that one thing, then let it be the time you allot for social media, not the quality time you spend with your partner. Don’t be like the others who always bring a portable charger  with them to make sure their device won’t be caught in a low battery crisis. Remember to keep your relationship a priority, so at the end of the day, everything will turn out well.

5.       Keep relationship issues in person. Perhaps, it’s better if both you and your partner are into technology. At least, it will be easier for both of you to understand each other for the tech stuff you do. Let’s take that into account; when relationship issues arise, it’s best to settle them personally rather than venting your emotions out in the open—in the internet—for release. Be wary because this might just complicate things that will lead to the demise of your relationship.

With internet access almost ubiquitous, people can’t seem to live their life offline. Better if you have the kind of cheap mobile phone that is just for call and text, not a smartphone that you can use to login your social media accounts. Keep in mind, the life you create online is nothing but a trail of bits of binary codes; what matters most are the people by your side whom you need to give your attention to.

A coin has two faces: heads and tails. Both faces are equally relevant to whoever flips the coin. However, it can only give out one possibility. The mere toss of the coin can make or break anything subjected to it. One can compare the flip of a coin to what might happen next to the future of the world – smarter phones or smarter people?

Smartphones were crafted to support the millions of people around the globe as they go through everyday tasks which are most of the time business-related. It didn’t take long for smartphones to actually occupy the ‘must-have tray’ as clearly evident in today’s society. Today, smartphones have raised the bar and serviced not only business and office matters but also entertainment – video streaming and music – and health as well.

An individual can say that for the past nth number of years that have passed, humans have vastly grew in intelligence which is the only thing that separates us from the many creations living in Earth. But if you ask an incredibly observant and unbiased person, he might beg to differ in the previous statement. True enough, our mode of communication is immensely enhanced from the letter-sending to electronic mails, instant messaging, and now – smartphones. In line with this are mobile accessories that accompany our gadgets namely the USB charger that in my opinion is the most convenient accessory of all technological gadgets. Their existence doesn’t directly correspond to humans actually getting smarter. Rather, it has rendered them more dependent as ever to the genius that is technology.

This is not a speculation, nor is it a contradiction. It simply is the neutral truth. These tools were made to support, not do the entire job for us. But seeing the world today, haven’t we had enough convenience already? We know too much is never good, and yet you can find loads of tablet accessories in various stores sprawled for any good buyer as accompaniment to his dear gadgets which signifies that the downfall of humans has finally commenced and that the era of technology is far from ending.

It doesn’t necessarily have to end. It has helped us in many ways than one, and quite a lot will vouch for that, and that includes me. What is being implied here is that sooner or later, an undesirable outcome will emerge which will depend on one decision that is for us to make. We can continue to spice up the technological world and embed all the genius that we have into them or relinquish our hold on technology completely and start making our lives easier the old-fashioned way.

Heads for smarter phones, tails for smarter people. Shall we toss the coin and find out the outcome?

There’s so much happening in the world around us nowadays. Because of the fast development of technology, things change in just a small span of time. Take communication for example; twenty years ago, you need to get to a nearby payphone booth, insert some coins, dial the number, and you can be able to talk to whoever you want to—of course, given that that person has a telephone, too. But now, all you have to do is take out your smartphone from your pocket, voice out the name of the person you want to contact, and you can be able to talk to him in a flash; plus, you may even get a chance to see the person you’re talking to via video call.

It’s just so convenient having technology by our side—anyway, that’s what it’s supposed to do, to make our life easy. With that, smartphones have invaded the tech market, and so as replacement parts that happen to upgrade or substitute whatever that needs changing within our handheld devices. As days pass by, more and more people are appreciating the perks of having a mobile phone handy. I know that’s no surprise. But if you want a surprise of some sort, then read the facts about mobile phones below.

1.       Figures show that there are 3x more smartphones being activated every minute all over the world than babies being born. You may not even have kids now, but most certainly, you won’t let a single day pass without a smartphone.

2.       There are currently more than 7 billion people in the world, and 4.8 out of the 7 billion actually have a mobile phone, while only 4.2 billion own their own toothbrush.

3.       The total population of the USA won’t come close to the total number of mobile web users of China. At the end of the first three months of 2012, it was recorded that there were approximately 450 million web users in the country. It only shows that China have more mobile internet users than the population of the third largest country in the world.

4.       Due to the trend, experts say that by 2015, mobile phones will match the same number of the total population on Earth. It doesn’t mean that everyone will own a mobile device—in fact, that’s still a remote dream, especially for the inhabitants of the world’s poorest countries. It just means that by that time, one might own more than one device. That also means more mobile accessory manufacturers will benefit from this massive growth like those making cell phone cases.

5.       Back in 2009, American mobile phone users had sent an approximate of 4.1 billion text messages daily. That’s equivalent to 17 SMSs for every single person in the country per day.

6.       A study from the University of Queensland shows that text messaging is highly addictive as smoking, though it’s not that bad for the health.

7.       People using mobile phones check their phones about 150 times a day on average. Additionally, tracking figures show that women are more active when it comes to texting, sending 716 texts a month, while men send 555 texts a month.

8.       Within the past two years, internet searches from mobile devices have grown by 500%, and this figure is predicted to continually grow at a rapid rate. If you haven’t yet considered marketing your business through the internet, then you should now.

Some facts above are just mind blowing. We can’t just deny the fact that mobile phones became a hit in this generation. With the fast pace of technology, changing the world in every way possible, who knows what’s in store for us in the near future? All I know is that whatever it is, it’s going to be amazing.

Let’s get all digital with the latest gadgets of today. Smatphone? Check! Tablet? Check! Laptop? Check! And *insert all the awesome gadgets you have here*? Check, check, check! Consider them as luxuries, but a lot of people will demand that they are now necessities. Admit it or not, these technologies have changed the way we live, and more likely, changed the world. Let’s have a retrospect about the gadgets that have changed the world and made it a better place—well, essentially.

#1: Personal Computer

Well, the personal computer is the one that sparked the computing technology into a wildfire. Most computing gadgets nowadays get more compact than ever. Talk about tablets, most people craze about buying iPad accessories just to optimize their tablet’s functionality. Remember your computing history? Back then, personal computers were operating, taking up a whole room or two. Evidently, portability has never been their feature. You have to be real keen about where you would place your computer, or else, you’ll catch your breath more often than not on relocating them just to be in the right spot. Sounds a lot of work, isn’t it? The Commodore PET (1977), the Apple II (1997), and the IBM PC (1981) were said to be the early PC models that sparked the computing to the masses.

#2: Telephone and mobile phone

Thanks to Alexander Graham Bell, communicating with people is just a few taps away. We can now relay information without all the hassles snail mail brings, and ring the people we care about through a telephone just to keep in touch with them. Even when people are oceans apart or perhaps just physically apart, conversations have become real-time now in this modern age. All thanks to apps like Skype, Facetime, and other apps that are now being utilized through the aid of the internet to have an instant face-to-face communication.

Those are the communication media we use at home, but what about outside? Now, we can welcome the mobile phone. In its name, the mobile phone is used not only just at home, but also when we are on-the-go—featuring mobility. Way back when it was first innovated, it was bulky, cumbersome, and somewhat an inconvenient device. But as time passes by, developers learned to re-innovate and tweak it to a more handy, multi-purpose, and efficient gadget—thus, people’s demands grew vastly as the mobile phone’s feature drastically changed—and still changing.

#3: Apple iPhone

Apple iPhone, you ask? Adding resolve to the subject, yes, it is. Although it isn’t the first mobile phone made, it sure did change the way we use mobile phones. Check your smartphone; does it have an LCD screen protector right at the screen? If it does, then you owe it to Apple. They were the ones who made the wave of touchscreen phones. The Apple then opened up the App Store to third-party developers that paved the way for Google, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and *insert all the mobile brands here* to join the touchscreen era. And so, the ‘paradigm-shifting interface’ still prevails and is felt today.

These are just a few of the gadgets that have changed the way we live. Let the gadgets of yesteryears be valued as the gadgets of today.

You already have splurged big dough with just buying a pristine smartphone, and the idea of buying extra accessories just for your phone’s protection really stings. All the more if you should really buy it and you have no reason not to. But how are you supposed to lessen the “splurge fever” with your hand-held device, when all the TV commercials and ads persuade you to buy all those “seemingly” essential mobile accessories that are real gotta-have-accessories? But before buying into the idea that you should get all the “seemingly” essential mobile accessories that all the sellers advertize, there are a lot of things you need to consider for your phone’s longevity. Below are some quick guides so you can avoid splurging too much on things that really are unnecessary to your phone. But if you are someone who doesn’t consider money as barrier, then have had it. Although there aren’t any assurance that the more you splurge, the higher the quality, sometimes some items are just real good in aesthetics.

1: Take extra precautions on using your phone. But sometimes, no matter how much we become vigilant and cautious to bend over backwards just to keep our phone safe, the inevitable happens like sudden bump as a child hits the object where the phone is mounted, house or car keys that are always all set to scratch away your glossy screen, or your bag pressing all things inside it including your phone. You’ll never know, right? I bet running an extra mile would not hurt more than your phone shattering to pieces. You can buy cell phone cases that will be your phone’s protection against back scuffs, sudden bumps, and scratches. Not to mention it comes with various designs you can choose from depending on your liking.

2: Only trust the trusted sellers. Wait… what? A lot of sellers claim that their products are all in good shape and quality. And with the advertising of mobile stores, it makes no difference. They could even claim their stores are trusted by many even when not. Yes, it is trusted—trusted to break in no time. On choosing replacement parts for your phone, better if you do a little research not just on the items, but also on the seller. Ask some of your friends which store should be trusted. Or better yet, you could always ask assistance of your phone’s manufacturer. Then, you will be guided on what to do. No matter what it takes, don’t ever—I repeat—ever choose cheaper replica items. They will only be good for just a matter of days, and they can even damage your gadget severely.

3: Is your charger safe? Not too long ago, news about a malicious charger called Mactans was spread. It could hack the latest OS version of iPhone in just a matter of minutes in no sweat. It’s alarming since iPhone were known to be more secure than other mobile offerings. And it’s alarming all the more since Mactans can be made even if it’s not well-funded. Everything in the package, along with your phone, is safe to use. That being said, you don’t have to worry. But if someone tries to sell USB charger with a ridiculously cheaper price than it should be, then start to be suspicious.

Above all the clauses, stop splurging on unnecessary accessories that you won’t really need. Learn to be contented with what you have as long as your phone does what it does. Make sure that it’s completely protected so you could enjoy its longevity.

Gadgets here, gadgets there, they are spread all over towns, cities, and countries everywhere! It might only take a year or so before every corner of every street will soon be filled up with the latest gadgets and accessories our geniuses have invented all for the sake of convenience. While this maybe the common goal for each genius, a little fun on the side isn’t such a bad idea. This is why they have gone their way and built the wackiest and yet helpful in one or two ways. Hey, having some laughs along the way can eliminate those worries as if they weren’t even there in the first place!

So on with the list of witty and somewhat useful gears for all ages.

MAGIC GEEK BALL

Want to know what the future holds for you? Ask away your best questions with the geekified version of the Magic 8 ball. Instead of the usual “Yes,” “No,” and “Try Again,” be enlightened with the words only a geek would say. Enter the Magic Geek Ball! Wishing to know if you will pass the bar exams this week? Will your boyfriend be the understanding kind to overlook those extravagant cell phone accessories you bought without his knowing? Shake it the only way you know how to and have your fate be foretold for you by your newest geeky best friend! It works the same way as the original, so I don’t think you’ll be having trouble deciphering its functions. Do not worry, you won’t be transformed into a geek with it (not that being one is such a bad thing); it’s just a ball.

SENSUS ™ iPHONE CASE

Too bad this won’t work on your grandfather’s cheap mobile phone. How about you buy him an iPhone instead? This way, you can communicate all night long and let him tell you about the first time he drove a car. The Sensus ™ iPhone case will surely be a help to your dear grandpa since this protective case manages a handful of functions that you have to do with your usual touch-screen smartphone. This protective case allows the user ten touch responses, one of which can be for logging on. No more swiping the screen itself to unlock, simply press that section of the case synced to open your phone. You can go and play around with this particular phone case. If anything, it helps out the lazy the most.

ENVELOPE X-RAY SPRAY

No more guessing for you because everything will soon be revealed with a spray! Presenting the Envelope X-Ray Spray! Those letters you’ve been dying to open just as they were delivered won’t need any knife or steam to look at what’s beneath those flaps. The X-ray spray is an environment-friendly can of x-ray vision that turns ordinary paper clear enough for the reader (or peep) to figure out whatever it is that is within. Its effects last for more or less thirty seconds, so I suggest you hold on to it till it wears off. You wouldn’t want to get caught red-handed now, do you? This time, it’s not only Superman with X-ray vision, so do you!

I’m not quite sure if these gadgets are for the better or worse. I guess the important thing is that you are assisted by technology and at the same time, get to enjoy it!
